Intermittent Fasting

Everything we eat after we wake up is the first source of energy after a long period without having any food.

While we sleep our body is still in need of energy, which is obtained by the food taken during the day.

That is why it is important to have breakfast, due to the fact that nutrients are taken from this meal to give us energy and keep our organisms active during the day.

There is studies that show that we obtain a better use of our intelectual and physical capabilities when having a nutritious and full first meal of the day.

A good breakfast gives you anywhere from 20 to 25% percent of calorie intake needed daily, which contributes to a nutrition intake with vitamins, minerals, protein, carbs, and fats.

Skipping breakfast can give you a better chance of having diabetes or obesity at some point in life.

People who have not had breakfast of developing a disease such as diabetes, or obesity do to the fact that after we fast for long periods of time, our body begins to store fat to obtain energy, putting it in “survival mode”.

There is many benefits of having breakfast the right way:

• You intake the sufficient amount of minerals and vitamins.

• You are consuming less processed food, and/or fast food, which can be a big source of saturated fat, trans fat, carbs and liquid drinks containing excess sugar.

To take the time to plan and have breakfast it is necessary to wake up a bit extra early, but it is completely worth it not to skip this meal.

What are good options for breakfast?

• Bread and wheats that give our bodies fiber and carbs, which are a source of energy, vitamins, minerals, such as: whole wheat bread, tortillas, oatmeal, instead of having cereals full of sugar, or white bread.

• Low fat products containing lactose, which contain protein, calcium, and other vitamins, such as: cheese, sugar free milk, and plain yogurt.

• Fruits that arre high sources of water and electrolytes.

• Also, include meals that have lots of protein, either from vegetables, animals. Such as: eggs, beans, lentils, etc.

“Of course I had breakfast! I had a coffee”

Having only coffee for breakfast does not at all contribute to weight loss, on the contrary, it can give you a terrible unbalance in our organism which makes us gain weight.

When you don’t have breakfast you are going to feel weak, unable to concentrate, and may even be in a bad mood due to the low levels of glucose after fasting.

Glucose is the main source of fuel for our bodies.

When we wake up our bodies has been fasted for 8 to 10 hours, the absence of glucose takes our body to use its resources from stored energy, which can spike and unbalance the way our body functions.

Having breakfast makes feel in a better mood, with a vitality that is worth living.

Enjoying a nutritious first meal helps and motivates us to organize the rest of our meals for the day.

The natural increase of glucose levels that breakfast gives us, stimulates our mental efficiency in aspects such as, memory, reflexes, focusing and paying attention in general, creativity, and problem resolution. Not to mention, having breakfast the right way, can contribute to lowering cortisol levels, which is the hormone that is at its peak in the morning but tends to lower during the day, affecting our concentration capabilities.

If you have not yet been able to obtain the habit of having breakfast like royalty, don’t you worry, with a bit of organization you are going to start off your morning in a great and nutritious way for the best energy during the day.
