Food to be happier

We have always heard the phrase: “you are what you eat”, but we never talk about the feelings that food generates.

We are all in search of happiness, it is the goal of our life, but did you know that there are foods that can help you to be happier and there are also foods that can keep you away from happiness?

Let's eat to live better, not just to satisfy a basic need.

We need serotonin in our organism, which is a neurotransmitter, on it depends whether you are sad, angry, suffer from anxiety, low self-esteem, irritability, bad mood, etc.

It is about living a full life, that is why we need foods rich in serotonin, as well as tryptophan which is an amino acid.

We need to consume vitamin B, C, magnesium and Omega 3.

Serotonin is also known as "the happiness hormone" because it helps to improve mood, sleep, appetite, among others.

It is equally important to avoid foods that slow down the production of serotonin in our body, such as:

Alcohol, caffeine, white bread, sugar, soda, junk food, sausages, snacks and sweets in general, etc., these foods slow down the production of both serotonin and dopamine, and inhibit the production of tryptophan, which can lead to depression, anxiety, inflammation, aging as well as other diseases.

What does help us to consume is:

Meat, eggs, fish, salmon, chicken, milk, quinoa, spirulina, pineapple, grapefruit, cactus, celery, ginger, spinach, oats, brown rice, flaxseed, peanuts, among others, which ones are rich in tryptophan.

Women produce less serotonin than men, and sometimes in our daily lives we do not manage to cover the necessary amount only with the food we eat, so we need to reinvent ourselves and find a way to eat foods rich in tryptophan, but in a simple way, for example, add to our breakfast, lunch and/or dinner a juice rich in fruits and ingredients of those mentioned above and that is easy and quick to prepare.

Do not stop looking for ways to increase serotonin and improve your life, you can also look for activities that help you like:

Sunbathing, walking outdoors, a massage, practicing yoga, swimming, and more.
